one of the best death doom bands so far. great melodies with great atmospheres. mostly slow, heavy and doomy but sometimes there are these groovy double-bass drum moments wich are pretty fucking cool. if you like death doom and melodic atmospheric black metal, this is for you. Sælzer Bub

Powerful, plaintive expression of the fathomless sorrow of our suffering cetaceans and their depthless home, together with the indescribable loveliness of their distant blue-black realm. I feel as much interstellar space here as I do deep ocean, equally crushing and buoying. Dave Aftandilian

Buzzing swarms of cheerless, blackened, fuzzed-out atmospheric ambience. Funeral doom if it was reinterpreted by Stars of the Lid. This is a morose masterpiece swarming with thick blankets of melancholy beauty and majestic seance-like guitar squalls. I also like the other reviews that made art gallery associations, which, by dint of suggestion, resonated with my own listening experience. Highly recommended! brantly
A blackened doom concept record about the very real problem of amphibian extinction, “Croak” is a punishing, essential listen. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 23, 2022
Joseph Hawker subverts the musical and sociopolitical status quo with a black metal triptych that's as incendiary as it is impressionistic. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 5, 2022

Listening to Noctu feels like slowly slipping below the surface of the ocean. You open your mouth to scream, bubbles escape, and saltwater fills your burning lungs. Cold, dead fingers grasp your ankles and pull you deeper, deeper into the inky black abyss. Noctu’s keyboard focus really gives this album a lovely creepy, haunted feel. Dave Aftandilian
